Eligible organisations are those that are Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) led with 80% of beneficiaries from one or more BAME communities. You must fall into one of the following categories: Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) Community benefit society Community Interest Company (CIC) Co-operative Exempt charity Excepted charity Faith organisation Non-constituted organisation Non-registered charity Registered charity Social enterprise Unincorporated community group with charitable aims If other, then please specify on the application form. Please note grants can only be awarded to non-profit organisations, i.e., where a positive balance at year end is not used to make payments to individuals, such as salary bonuses or dividends; companies limited by shares will have to give proof of being a non-profit.

Voice4Change England works with a number of organisations to provide funding for BAME communities, and we welcome applications from all parts of the UK. Recently we have funded projects in the areas of sport and physical activity, mental health, the Windrush documentation and compensation schemes, as well as other areas. More than 50% of your senior staff, Trustees, and/or Directors must be from BAME communities. At least 3 Trustees - your organisation does not have to have trustees if it has a clearly defined ethical purpose. Further criteria will vary depending on the fund, so please ensure you read the fund guidance for the relevant programme before you apply.

Yes, in most cases you are eligible to apply but please read the fund guidance for the programme you are interested in prior to applying. Please note, the new application cannot replicate a previously funded project.

In most cases, providing all your grant conditions were met and there are no further queries to be resolved, you will be able to apply for another one of our funds as soon as the opportunity is available. Please ensure you read the fund guidance for the relevant programme before you apply.

We can fund any such groups as long as they satisfy the general eligibility criteria, but not for work in connection with the promotion of religion. We can support work that benefits the wider community.

You can apply for a grant if you meet the eligibility criteria, but, if successful, you will need to provide a projected breakdown of the income and expenditure for your organisation covering the year.

We do not accept bids for capital-only projects. Capital costs can only be applied for if they directly relate to the project. Each grant varies so please check the funding guidance for the relevant programme or contact us at enquiries@voice4change-england.co.uk.

This will vary depending on the fund, so please read the relevant fund guidance for the programme you are interested in applying for. Typically, eligible costs include staff salaries, staff and volunteer expenses, project overheads (e.g., rent), project costs (e.g., printing), and may also include equipment.

No, your budget may not include cover for something that may not occur. The budget must only cover costs relating directly to the project.

We do encourage organisations and groups to work with each other as much as possible. When you apply, one organisation must be the primary applicant. They will be the organisation named on the funding agreement and the responsibility for fulfilling the grant requirements will ultimately be with them. Therefore, you should agree between you which organisation will be the lead applicant. You can name the other organisation you will be delivering with on your application under the question ‘Will you be working in partnership with another organisation to deliver this project? If yes, please specify’.

We are committed to careful review and as such run a rigorous assessment process. This includes a review of your organisation’s finances, as well as expert assessment by internal panels and external reviewers.

All applicants are advised in writing of the Panel’s decision on their application within a few working days of the relevant Grants Panel meeting. If the application is successful, the letter will be accompanied by a copy of our standard Terms and Conditions, which must be signed by the awardee and returned promptly. This does not constitute a request for payment. Payments are made by bank transfer and take a couple of weeks from receipt of request, providing any or all relevant conditions have been met.

Yes, we do conduct site visits where possible as part of our monitoring process. We also get invited to project events by our grantees which we are more than happy to attend!

Yes, for every fund there are monitoring and evaluation requirements. If successful, these will be outlined to you and will be a conditional part of your grant. The frequency of monitoring will vary depending on the fund and value of the award.

We aim to provide feedback to everyone who has applied for funding. In some instances, we might not have the capacity to respond individually.

No, our funding opportunities are available to all organisations. You do not need to be a member to apply.

The best way for us to empower our members is through activities. The membership programme will offer this through exclusive access to events, workshops, webinars and annual conferences. Our members will get exclusive opportunities to meet prospective mentors, partners and to gain access to resources that may help their organisations and communities. The membership may also help organisations feel a sense ‘belonging’ where their needs and experiences are addressed, and views appreciated.
