V4CE Hosts Information Session with YoungMinds

Updated: May 15

On February 24th we hosted YoungMinds, a leading national charity fighting for children and young people’s mental health. As a valuable associate member of V4CE, they reached out to us to support them in reaching more Black and Minoritised Ethnic communities, from organisations to parents. We brought together an audience of our members in order to help Young Minds spread the word about an important element of their work, the Parents Helpline.

The Parents Helpline provides advice to parents and carers of children and young people facing mental health and behavioural challenges. Their specialist advisors are on hand to provide customised support, providing solutions and action plans as well as additional measures such as suggestions for self-care. They have recently increased the capacity of this vital service, meaning more parents can benefit from advice on issues such as bullying and anxiety. Additionally, they offer translation services in over 200 languages to those that need them.

The session was very well attended, with 34 participants and an interactive Q&A session led by YoungMinds’ Parent Engagement Officers, Jill and Vernon. As well as spreading the word about their services, they were looking for insights from the community as to how to improve their offering, meaning the session was valuable in many ways. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with YoungMinds. Watch this space for future collaborative events!
